Bass BootCamp Classes: Combining Information and Inspiration

Workshops

Bass BootCampDuring the weekend, there will be eight highly informative workshops, one taught by each of our instructors. The workshop classes will cover a wide range of topics such as: learning how to groove, creating bass lines, improving your ear, optimizing your practice time, and playing with a live drummer. In addition, applied theory topics covering scales, arpeggios, modes, etc., will be taught.

The workshops are where the real teaching takes place. They present an opportunity to learn from some of the world’s best bass players. You will be in a class with other students of the same skill level. As the instructor is sharing his/her knowledge, s/he will be there to assist you directly in applying the information that s/he presents. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced player, the information given by the instructor is tailored to your skill level. The hands-on workshops provide the setting for you to learn and apply the instructional information in real time.

Master Classes

large-5The Master Classes are up close and personal, providing inspiration to push you to reach the next level. They present a unique opportunity for campers to see and hear how the instructors achieved mastery in their musicianship and success in their careers.

Not only will you see some of the world’s most inspiring bass players perform, you will have access to the instructor in a Q&A session. You can ask literally any questions you want. Have you wondered what strings the instructor uses or how they got started, or who their influences are? What about some of the experiences they’ve had on the road or in the studio working with many famous artists? You may just want to know about the techniques they use. This is the time to ask questions and delve more deeply into the world of bass.

Night Owl Classes

For those who want more instruction after sunset, we offer Night Owl Classes. These classes are optional classes that are scheduled after the evening activities. The Night Owl Classes satisfy the most curious and adventurous students and help them maximize their Bass BootCamp experience.

During the early years of the Bass BootCamp, we noticed that after the regular scheduled activities, the “campers” seemed to still want more. That would result in hotel lobby and hallway jam sessions going ’til the wee hours of the morning. We decided to channel that energy and create the Night Owl Classes. The classes generally focus on particular bass techniques or playing styles. For example, the classes have covered tapping, slapping, sight reading, Latin bass, the Blues, recording, etc. So, if you’re up to it, you can get even more out of your Bass BootCamp weekend by attending the Night Owl Classes.

Are you ready to go the distance?
